A hands-on biodiesel processing workshop will be held on Thursday, June 12 from 9:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the University of Maine's Highmoor Farm in Monmouth. The cost is $6 and advance registration is required. Join us for "All Local Foods" barbeque and picnic at Spiller Farm, Wells

Local foods at their finest! Your price of admission is to bring along produce or farm products produced in York County to share with local farmers and local food enthusiasts for this enjoyable social gastronomical event. With the price of oil affecting the transport of food from afar there is more interest than ever in supporting local farms and enjoying fresh, healthy locally produced foods. The KNEADING Conference will beheld in Skowhegan, Maine and invites professional and home bakers, farmers, and millers, oven builders, and innovative community members to participate in hands-on demonstrations and lectures on progressive ideas in the art of wood-fired bread baking and food production, local grain growing and milling, and oven building.

Potluck and twilight meeting at Wolfpine Farm in Alfred, Maine

Wolf Pine Farm is a small organic farm in southern Maine offering Community Supported Agriculture.

YCFN will have an informational display at the upcoming Acton Fair (August 21-24) in the Agriculture Building. Stop by and check it out!

September 13 - 14
Three Rivers Land Trust Benefit to be held at McDougal Farm in Springvale on Sept. 13 & 14. YCFN will be selling food: a light dinner on the 13th (5-7 pm)and brunch fare (baked goods) on the 14th (11am-1pm).

September 23
Potluck and twilight meeting at Blaisdell Family Farm in York, Maine

The Blaisdell's raise beef cattle and grow their own hay. The twilight meeting will include a tour of the farm, slaughter house, and explore the rich history of a farm that has been in the family for almost 250 years.

YCFN Steering Committee will meet at 4:30 pm at the Extension office in Springvale.

October 28
David Holm of the University of Vermont Cooperative Extension will speak to interested farmers about how to apply for SARE Grants. This YCFN event will start with a potluck at 5:30 pm folllowed by David's presentation. Location: Anderson Learning Center, Springvale.

November 12
John Pioti is scheduled to speak about farmland protection at the Springvale Library. Further details forthcoming.
